Thankful Thursday & CHD Awareness Week

Happy Thursday! The week is almost over...although around here it has been Saturday for over a week. Last week E Nut had public school on Tuesday and Thursday with a 2 hour delay and a 1 hour early dismissal on Wednesday. He has been home all this week, and tomorrow is supposed to be a half day, who knows what is up with that. The streets here are still pretty bad and icy, especially in the mornings. The kids have played out in the snow for days on end and are loving the snow...at this point I think the novelty is starting to wear off. Suddenly snow around here is normal. I am so Thankful to have a snow filled winter for my little Nuts to enjoy!

This week February 7th-14th is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week...but I bet you already knew that! I am so Thankful for all of the wonderful CHD organizations and all the ways that they help out Heart Families and their Heart Children. I am very Thankful that I am a member of Mended Little Hearts of Charlottesville, it is such a wonderful group of families and I am Thankful to know every one of them. I have taken over as Co-coordinator for MLH of Charlottesville and I am so excited and Thankful that Christina thought of me, because Of Course I would want to do it!

I am Thankful for the Amazing team of Pediatric Cardiologists at UVA Children's hospital they save the lives of CHD babies and children every day.

And I want to Thank all of the people who are helping to raise CHD Awareness this week by blogging, twittering and updating their facebook statuses with information about Congenital Heart Defects. I am seeing not just parents of Heart Children, but friends and strangers alike, all working to tell the world that Congenital Heart Defects are the Number 1 birth defect, that 1 in 100 babies are born with a CHD and that CHDs are the number 1 reason for birth defect related deaths in newborns and infants. Thank You!

As always, I am Thankful for my happy, healthy, wild little beasties that run around my house all day long driving me crazy, I am Thankful that my husband has a job, we have a roof over our heads and for our wonderfully supportive group of friends and family and all the ways they help us.

So what are you Thankful for today? It is so easy to join in and tell everyone.

Here is how Thankful Thursdays works:

1. Post your Thankful Thoughts on your blog. Somewhere in your post please mention Welcome to the Nut House and http://ourhappynuthouse.blogspot.com/ so that your friends, family and visitors know where to find other Thankful Thoughts. You can also grab my Thankful Thursdays banner and link to that. Once you have done that you can come back here and add your post to MckLinky.

Not every one has a blog, so:

2. If you don't have a blog, you can leave a Thankful Thoughts comment in the comment section.

3. You can show your Thankful Thoughts any way you like, as a list, as a story, as one word, one sentence or just a picture.

Have fun!

I am thankful that you are so dedicated and "out there" raising awareness of CHD! Not the innocent by-stander for sure, you are taking it to the streets!
Good job!
